There are dozens of different types of relationships, from friendships to the relationship with a parent or sibling to romantic relationships to the relationships we maintain with our co-workers or boss. That being said, it is possible for insecurities to exist in a relationship, regardless of how intimate it is. Here are some tips for feeling more confident and certain about the relationships you maintain–
1. Make Yourself Feel Good First
Before you can have healthy relationships with others, you need to feel good about yourself – otherwise, you’ll constantly be looking to others for validation, which can be a dangerous game, and a way to set yourself up for hurt feelings. You can do small things and big things to make yourself feel good, from wearing an outfit that you feel powerful in to exercising on a daily basis.
2. Be Independent
It can be very hard to not get sucked into our relationships. For example, everyone knows a couple where both parties like the exact same things and do the exact same things together. While this may look great on the outside, the truth is that it is very important to maintain independence. This helps you to derive feelings of power and confidence from yourself, and also gives relationships room to breathe.
