Having a life purpose is good for you, and a new study confirms yet another reason why. According to an article published by researchers at Northwestern University School of Medicine, having a life purpose increases sleep quality (and we all know how important sleep is!).
Life Purpose Impacts How Well You Sleep
The study highlights that how we sleep is affected by whether or not we have a life purpose. Out of 823 people questioned, those who felt that their lives had meaning were 63 percent less likely to suffer from sleep apnea, and 52 percent less likely to have restless leg syndrome. Good sleep is tied to a variety of health benefits, including reduced stress and improved mental health.
How to Improve Your Sleep
In addition to finding your life’s purpose, which may not happen overnight, there are a number of other things that you can do to improve how well you sleep. These include:
- Meditating;
- Eating well;
- Exercising;
- Avoid alcohol;
- Getting up early; and
- Paying attention to sleep routines.
If you are getting good sleep, you will have more energy, feel better throughout the day and have greater levels of success.
