There are a handful of things in life that you may not want to do, but have to do – these are called responsibilities. Some responsibilities are easier to handle than others; in fact, some responsibilities, like caring for a loved one or pet, are enjoyable, or are even things that we want to do. But how do we get through responsibilities that we don’t want to do or don’t like?
Focus on Balance
One way to get through the responsibilities of your job or life is to create a good balance between the things you like to do and the things you have to do. For example, if you know that you have two hours’ worth of tasks you don’t like to do today, try to break up that two-hour time period into smaller, 30-minute blocks.
Do the Hardest Things First
There is nothing like getting something that you don’t want to do out of the way. When you do the hardest things first in your day, you clear up time to focus on the things that are easy and enjoyable.
Make a Change
If you really don’t like your responsibilities to the point where you’re questioning your values or how you’re spending your time, you should think seriously about making a change. There is no point in remaining with something that makes you unhappy.
