Any changes that you want to make for your business all have to start in the same place: with your mind and your energy. If it feels like your company is stuck at a plateau, here’s how to grow your business by shifting your energy and mindset. 

1. Become Fearless About Achieving Your Goals

All business owners or executives have goals for their company, but not all of them will reach those goals—and for one very big reason: fear. If you want to take your business to the next level, you’ve got to stop thinking small. 

It’s all too easy to get stuck in the same routines or patterns, especially when those routines feel safe. How many times have you or an employee had an idea, and you’ve thought, “We’ve never done it like that before.” 

As a business owner, you’ve got to banish phrases like that from your vocabulary—as scary as the unknown is, all great success starts with a gamble. Become fearless about achieving those goals, and start asking yourself (and those around you) what the next step is. 

2. Accept that Failure is Part of the Process

Nothing can get you down like reaching for a goal and falling short, especially when it comes to how to grow your business. Maybe you didn’t make enough sales as you wanted to, or you lost a client. A lot of business owners let these failures trip them up, and once they’ve taken enough hits, they may not get back up. 

However, when you’re an entrepreneur, you’ve got to accept that failure is just as much a part of the process as success is. Even if they don’t feel great, failures are a critical part of achieving a goal. They help you realize that you’ve got to rethink your approach or come up with a new idea.

Every single successful business owner—yes, even the billionaires like Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos—failed several times before they had one success.

So, next time you fall short, remember that it’s not about how you fall down—it’s about how you choose to get back up, and what you do after that failure that matters. 

3. Know Your Value as a Leader

When it comes to how to grow your business, you’ve got to know your worth. The best business owners may know their weaknesses, but they also know their strengths—and they understand how to leverage those strengths for better success. 

What is it that you bring to the table? Maybe you’re a great communicator, or an ace when it comes to time-management. 

All too often, business owners focus on their weaknesses and let these faults consume them. While it’s important to understand where you struggle (and where you can improve), you don’t want to rule out your positive attributes either. 

The minute you start understanding your worth as a leader is the minute that those around you—employees, competition, clients—also start understanding your worth.
