When things get stressful, keeping your cool can be difficult. However, remaining calm in tense situations is one key part of being an effective leader, managing energy levels, and reaching financial success. If you’re feeling like you’re about to explode, here are some tips for keeping your anger at bay:

Take a Timeout

Sometimes, taking a few minutes to yourself in a quiet place is all you need to calm down. Excuse yourself from the tense situation, and give yourself a minute to think rationally about what you want to say and how you want to react.

Employ Relaxation Techniques

When anger strikes, employ some relaxation techniques to help calm yourself down. Try striking a yoga pose or two, doing some deep breathing exercises, or writing in a journal or listening to some music.

Move Your Body

Physical activity is one of the best ways to alleviate anger. If you feel like you’re about to burst, do some jumping jacks, go for a jog around the block, or powerwalk for five to ten minutes to blow off some steam.
