A new study published by NetworkWorld reveals a shocking fact. The relationship that most people have with their phones: the average person touches their phone 2,617 times per day. That sounds unbelievable. Consider that the study found that some of the heaviest phone users touch their phone up to 5,427 times per day.
The Downsides of Connectivity
The problem with being connected to the world and being so tempted by our phones is that phones are major distractions. They can impair our relationships by preventing us from being completely focused on the person to whom we are speaking. They distract us from doing our jobs or focusing on our work and disrupt our sleep. In fact, 87 percent of participants in the study checked their phones at least once between the hours of midnight and 5:00 a.m.
It’s Time To Put Your Phone Down and Disconnect
We know it’s hard to do but putting your phone down and disconnecting, even for a few hours, is really good for you. Go for a walk and don’t take your phone. When you go to bed at night, turn your phone off or place it in the other room. When you sit down at the dinner table with your family, leave your phone out of sight. Start connecting with the real world rather than the digital one. You will reap the benefits that come with enhanced energy, concentration, focus and deeper relationships.
