Commitment is the New Alchemy

Zig Ziglar used to tell a story about the chicken and the pig.

The chicken makes a contribution to breakfast.

The pig?

The pig is committed.

There’s a difference.

And that difference matters far beyond breakfast.

Contribution or Commitment?

I grew up around farming communities and the Amish.

Horses. Farms. Strawberries.
Tomatoes—which are still one of my favorites.

There is something about that way of life that teaches you quickly:

The work still has to be done.

It doesn’t matter if it’s blazing hot.
It doesn’t matter if there’s a fierce blizzard.
It doesn’t matter if it’s early morning or dark outside.

Someone has to show up.
Someone has to put their energy into the work.

There are no productivity hacks that milk the cows for you.

No shortcut that plants the field.
No magic button that makes the harvest appear.

You show up.
You do the work.
You stay engaged.

And you keep going.

We’ve Become Obsessed With the Shortcut

Today, we are surrounded by tools promising to make everything easier.

AI is probably the biggest example.

People talk about AI like it’s the new genie in the bottle.

Push a button.
Create the business.
Write the content.
Build the product.
Make the money.
Work four hours a week.

Even I got pulled into that idea for a minute.

Then I started trying to use AI for aspects of coding.

And I discovered something very quickly.

The tool can help me do the work. It cannot become me.

It can generate. It can organize.
It can analyze. It can accelerate.

But it cannot commit.

It has no life force. It doesn’t have your vision.
It doesn’t have your reason for doing what you do.
It doesn’t care whether your work changes someone’s life.

That part is yours.

The Energy Behind the Tool Changes Everything

This is where I think we miss something important.

The tool isn’t the magic.

You are.

When your energy, vision, and commitment are aligned, the tools around you become incredibly powerful.

AI can help you move faster.
Technology can expand your reach.
Systems can create efficiency.
People can support you.

But they are amplifiers.

They amplify what you bring to them.

If you bring clarity, they can amplify clarity.
If you bring vision, they can help you execute the vision.
If you bring commitment, they can help you create momentum.

But if you bring confusion, avoidance, or a desire for someone—or something—to do it all for you?

You’re likely to create more of the same.

Your Energy Is Part of the Equation

This is why I pay so much attention to energy.

Because two people can have access to the exact same tool and create completely different results.

Same AI. Same technology.
Same information. Same opportunity.
Different energy. Different commitment.

Different outcome.

One person uses the tool as an extension of their vision.
Another hopes the tool will give them the vision.

One is engaged.
The other is waiting.

One is creating.
The other is consuming.

The difference isn’t always the tool.

It’s the person operating it.

The Magician or the Sleepwalker?

So here’s the wizard’s twist.

You have a choice.

You can become receptive to the energetic solutions that allow you to show up fully engaged and aligned.

Or you can keep waiting for the next tool, strategy, AI prompt, course, or shortcut to do the work for you.

One makes you the magician.
The other makes you the sleepwalker.

And I know which one I’d rather be.

Because real prosperity isn’t about doing everything yourself.
It’s about knowing what is yours to do—and bringing your energy fully to it.

Then you let the tools do what they do best.

You command the machinery.
You don’t become the machinery.

Commitment Is Still the Alchemy

You don’t need to reject technology.

You don’t need to work harder just for the sake of working harder.

And you certainly don’t need to abandon every shortcut.

Use the tools.
Use AI.
Use systems.
Use everything available to you.

But don’t hand over the part that only you can bring.

Your presence. Your vision.
Your energy. Your commitment.

Because machines can mimic output.

They cannot bring your soul to the work.

And that is still where the real magic happens.

So the question isn’t:
“What tool will make this easier?”

Ask yourself:

“What would become possible if my energy and commitment were fully aligned with what I say I want?”

That is where things begin to shift.
That is where tools become powerful.
That is where effort becomes purposeful.

And that is where wealth, freedom, joy, and expansion stop being something you are chasing and start becoming something you are available to create.

Energy + commitment = the real alchemy of success.

And that secret hasn’t changed.

Not with AI. Not with technology.
Not with the next big thing.

It never needed to.
